Before transitioning to full time private practice in 2015, I had worked for 7 years as a clinician at a community health center in Norwich, in their behavioral health department. I have managed caseloads of urgent and high risk clients, assessed levels of risk and determined appropriate level of care needed, and provided training and supervision on issues that impact the way clients are triaged and scheduled to receive services. I have assessed, evaluated and diagnosed mental, emotional, developmental and behavioral disorders and have developed individual evidence based treatment plans to help clients work towards achieving their goals. In addition to working with individuals and families, I also supervised staff and oversaw the development and implementation of the Trauma Recovery and Empowerment Model and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy at our clinic.
In 2009 I was trained as a forensic interviewer for New London Countyand worked per diem for the Waterbury multi-disciplinary team. I conducted forensic interviews for children who had been sexually or physically abused and assisted the police and child protection by providing developmentally appropriate and emotionally sensitive interviews. Additionally, in 2010 I became a Certified Sexual Assault Crisis Counselor and volunteered at the Sexual Assault Crisis Center of Eastern Connecticut in Willimantic until June 2012. I completed training and obtained certification as a Clinical Trauma Professional. In July 2021 I obtained my PMHC- certification in perinatal mental health.
I have received extensive training in the areas of eating disorders, mood disorders, personality disorders, trauma and PTSD. Additionally, I have experience and training in utilizing evidence based interventions including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, the Trauma Recovery and Empowerment Model, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Motivational Interviewing, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
I currently live in Southeastern Connecticut with my husband, children, and rescue dog, Truly. I moved here for New York City in 2008. While living in NYC I worked at a hospital in the Bronx and at a community based mental health clinic in Astoria, Queens. While the diversity and energy of living in the city was something I enjoyed, I have found a home on the shoreline and enjoy serving my local community.
